Income Tax raids on the houses of actresses Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra

It might be a good time to be an income tax lawyer. Following the raids on the houses of actresses Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra — there has been a panic wave among Bollywood actors to clear up before they get into any income tax issues.

“We have got calls from at least three actors asking to immediately take charge of their finances. We have asked for seven days to sort the matters out,” says a leading income tax lawyer.

The expat actors — who shuttle in and out of India as their families don’t stay here — are the first to put uptheir guards.

“We are getting calls to help out with lawyers and people like chartered accountants,who handle the finances of Bollywood movies, and are thus in demand. Some of the actors want to clear up the cash that they had kept in the house,” says a leading producer.

According to sources, the whole purpose of conducting an IT raid at Priyanka and Katrina’s house was to send a panic wave among the defaulters in the industry.

“There is a lot of money that exchanges hands in cash (black money in common terms) which is our target. Unfortunately, crores of cash cannot be disposed off easily. We are expecting a lot of (income tax) penalties in the days to come,” says a source in the IT department.

Katrina Kaif in a double role

No doubt Katrina Kaif is one of the most-demanded actresses in Bollywood today with lots of hits to her credit. But can she pull off a double role in this hero-dominated industry? Well, her good performance in her latest release Tees Maar Khan seems to have instilled more faith on the filmmakers. If all work out as planned, you may see her in double role soon.

Yes, the news is doing the rounds that a production house is planning to make a film with Katrina in a double role. “This is an age-old Bollywood tradition. When Hema Malini was at her peak Ramesh Sippy made Seeta Aur Geeta with her. Likewise when Sridevi was riding a crest of popularity, Pankuj Parasher made Chaalbaaz with her. Now, since Kat is the golden girl of Bollywood, a film corporation that has bought the rights for Seeta Aur Geeta, wants to make a new version of this film with Katrina," Mumbai Mirror quoted a trade guru as saying.

However, the source added that nothing has been finalized yet. “The plan to make a film that has Katrina in a double role is definitely on. There is speculation that Dibakar Banerjee may be asked to direct it. A couple of other high-profile director names are also being floated. However, nothing is final yet. They also need two leading men for the film. At best, this project can be described as a work-in-progress," added the source.
We are yet to hear from Katrina but it will be a great treat for her fans and film lovers alike to see her in double role

Katrina And Hrithik In A New Movie

Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif starrer mega- budget upcoming flick ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is still unsold and producers are finding it hard to sell the movie on their terms due to bombing of Hrithik- Barbara Mori’s last venture ‘Kites’ at the box office. Sources from the trade reveal that the producers had approached two big corporate houses for the film.

But they never reverted with positive answers and believed to have told that they could not commit big sum of amount on Hrithik Roshan now. The buzz is that Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment wanted Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ to be sold along with Abhishek Bachchan-Kangna Ranaut ‘Game’ for a whopping sum of Rs 100 crores.

Katrina Kaif has a busy year ahead

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been doing consistently well since she entered Bollywood in 2003. She has been belting out hit films year after year, and 2010 was no exception with Raajneeti earning her lots of accolades. Going by the projects she has in her kitty, 2011 is going to be a busy year for the actress.

Katrina is looking forward to the release of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara with Hrithik Roshan and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with Imran Khan. Then she has director Prakash Jha’s Satsang, where she plays a character seeking spiritual rejuvenation in India. After that, she has a film with Abhishek Bachchan to be directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
